Ronald (Ron) E. Arnett, age 88 of Jackson, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the Tennessee State Veteran’s Home in Humboldt. Ron was born in Memphis, Tenn. in 1935, the middle child of three children born to Edwin E. (Buddy) Arnett and Lena Marie (Valendo) Arnett.
Ron grew up in South Memphis and the Levi/Whitehaven area of Shelby County. He was awarded several football awards at Whitehaven High School. Ron enrolled at the University of Memphis (then known as Memphis State University) where he earned a degree in Business Administration, graduating in 1958. Very quickly following graduation, Ron was called to active service in the Air Force where he served a full career as a supply and logistics officer. At his first duty station at Lake Charles, La., Ron met Connie Sue DesOrmeaux at the Boulevard Church of Christ. They were married in 1960. Ron and his bride served additional assignments in England, California, Guam, Thailand, Alabama, Illinois, and finally, Alexandria, Va.
Over the course of his service, Ron also earned an MBA degree from Auburn University. Ron was very proud of this accomplishment and thankful to the Air Force for the opportunity. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Ron worked as a CPA in Lake Charles, La. and later in Jackson, Tenn.
Ron is survived by his wife of 63 years, Connie Sue; two children, Trisha Page Oser and Ronald E. Arnett, Jr. (Sandra); a brother, James T. Arnett (Linda); and a sister, Edwina Fogerty. He also leaves one granddaughter, Laura Page Oser and a great granddaughter, Adelyn Frazier. Ron loved family, family gatherings, and his high school and church friends.
He had a good sense of humor, was very reserved, and was always there to serve people who needed him. He considered himself to be an incredibly lucky man.
