Investigation into stabbing death leads to major drug bust

During the course of the investigation into a stabbing death in Lake Charles, LCPD detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence separate from the location where the stabbing occurred.

The Tuesday homicide resulted from an altercation between two 55 years olds and resulted in the death of Mark Anthony Antoine of Lake Charles and the arrest of Timothy Wayne Daniels of Lake Charles. Lake Charles Police were called to the scene at 2:20 a.m.

At 9:44 a.m., on Tuesday during the course of the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 1100 block of Pear Street.

While serving this warrant, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana and observed narcotics in plain view. The Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (CAT Team) was called to the scene and a narcotics search warrant was obtained.

Upon the execution of this narcotics search warrant, officers recovered a handgun, 161.5 pounds of synthetic marijuana, 13.9 pounds of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a large amount of US currency and observed a clandestine laboratory.

Upon discovery of the clandestine laboratory, the Lake Charles Fire Department Haz-Mat Team and Environmental Response Services were called to the location to process the scene and recover the contents of the lab.

At approximately 6:13 p.m., on Tuesday, an arrest warrant was obtained for 43-year-old Dominick Stevens of Lake Charles. He is charged with the following:

One count of Distribution/Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule I CDS Synthetic Marijuana

One count of Distribution/Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule I CDS Marijuana

One count of Drug Paraphernalia

One count of Illegal Carrying of Weapons; Crime or CDS

One count of Transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses

One count of Creation or Operation of a Clandestine Laboratory

Judge Tony Fazzio set a bond of $3.7 million on the above charges. The estimated street value of the recovered narcotics is $300,000 for the synthetic marijuana and $27,000 for the marijuana. Stevens was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center where he remains in custody.
