At approximately 4:45 p.m. on Friday, August 4, traffic on I-10 eastbound two miles west of the Iowa exit slowed as citizens pulled off to the side of the road and began crowding a section of the interstate.

Heavy law enforcement and emergency services were at the scene within the hour.

At 6 p.m., an Air Med Helicopter landed on the interstate, left 20 minutes later with a person in tow, and flew west. 

Louisiana State Police presence remained on the scene as a motorcycle was hauled onto a tow truck just after 7 p.m.

Trooper Derek Senegal, LSP, public affairs, told the American Press that the incident was a one-person vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.

“The motorcycle operator sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Lafayette General Medical Center for treatment.”
