Todd Ryan Ashworth

Todd Ryan Ashworth, 34, of DeQuincy La., passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport.

Todd was born on June 2, 1989 in Lake Charles, La. to Roger Ashworth and Monica Gearen Bruno. He was a graduate of Barbe High School, class of 2007. He received many outstanding athletic achievements during his early high school years in basketball and baseball while he attended Singer High School. His love for the sports ultimately continued on through his children and his nephew, where he was often seen cheering them on in the stands. Todd was the most happy when spending quality time with family in Lake Charles and Dequincy. He had an infectious smile and a heart of gold which was evident to anyone who met him. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his 5 sons; Hayden, Hadley, Holden, Harley, and Heath; mother, Monica Bruno of Lake Charles, La.;  3 brothers; Jody Ashworth of Lake Charles, Brad (Leslie) Ashworth of Ragley, La., Dale Ashworth of Houston, Texas, sister; Kara Ashworth of Scottsdale, Ariz.; nephews Reese and Brenton Ashworth; nieces Gracelynn, Lakyn and Samantha Ashworth. He is also survived by a host of aunts and uncles: Lisa (Tommy) Horn, Joni (Casie) Whitehead, Billy (Lisa) Gearen, Welborn (Nancy) Ashworth, H.L.Perkins, Kenny (Valerie) Perkins, Larry Perkins, William Perkins, Betty (Jack) Briggs, Sheila (Keith) Fontenot, Pat (Emily) Perkins, Patricia (Michael) Porter and Irene Nowell and a host of cousins and extended family and loving friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Ashworth of DeQuincy, La.; his stepfather Richard Bruno of Lake Charles, La.; his grandmother Florence Perkins of DeQuincy La.; his grandparents Billy “Sambo” and Velma Gearen of DeQuincy, La.; Cousin Jessie Horn of DeQuincy, La.

Visitation for Todd will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA. 70605.  Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2023, also at the funeral home.  Entombment will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
