Chief Jimmy L. Gwatney, 85, of Lake Charles passed away at 10:35 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023 in his residence.
In my travels in life I have noticed that doctors and lawyers have five or six columns on the obituary page. I was not a doctor or a lawyer so I will try to keep it short and sweet.
To all my ex’s (I loved them all) you remember only the bad times, I remember the good times, and there were plenty.
To all of my friends I worked with on the Police Department and at the Housing Authority, you will always be long on hours and short on pay but you will have the satisfaction when you go home that you spent the whole day trying to help someone.
To all my motorcycle friends, watch for cars because they won’t watch for you and keep the bell on the bottom and your butt on top.
To my golfing friends, may the wind be at your back and your putts roll true. If I’m late this weekend don’t wait for me, I might not show.
To my children, I never told you I love you enough. I LOVE YOU. Live life-every day is a holiday, and every night is a Saturday night.
Retired LC-1-is 10-6.
