Stine: Five laws passed, district dollars returned

State Sen. Jeremy Stine, R-Lake Charles, recaps the 2023 Legislative Session and five pieces of legislation that became law following the governor’s signature: 

During Senator Stine’s brief tenure, he has returned over $535,112,448 of your hard-earned tax dollars back to Calcasieu Parish. 

“Thanks to the partnership with our Southwest Louisiana Delegation, our efforts resulted in over $102,369,938 delivered this year alone. We secured $800 million to put toward a new Calcasieu River bridge, and we’re nowhere near close to finished yet,” Stine said. 

This past legislative session, Senator Stine successfully passed legislation focused on simplifying burdensome tax requirements, enabling health insurance coverage for genetic testing, implementing laws to protect our children from digital predators, and allowing for increased transparency and approval for healthcare provider services.

Below is a list of instruments authored by Senator Stine that became law in Louisiana:

 In addition to Senator Stine’s legislation, he also supported and co-sponsored several legislative measures that work to: 

  • Create safer communities and crack down on violent criminals and drug dealers

  • Expand choice and improve outcomes in education by supporting teacher pay raises

  • Create a more competitive tax system to attract businesses and residents to Louisiana

  • Grow oil and gas jobs and promote American Energy Independence

  • Improve access to affordable, reliable insurance

  • Develop a more robust and talented workforce

  • Promote Pro-Life, Pro-Family, and Pro-Child Legislation
