Daniel Howard Miller, 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 17. He was born on July 13, 1949 in Lake Charles, La. to Alfred James Miller and Gladys Moore Miller. A memorial service will be held Family will receive friends on Friday, August 11 a.m. at New Life Worship Center, 668 N. Perkins Ferry Rd., Moss Bluff, La. at 6 pm, with a memorial service following at 6:30 p.m. He followed in his father’s trade by becoming a bricklayer. Soon after that, he felt called to the ministry. He met and married Jeannie Sistrunk, the love of his life, and started a family. Both loved the Lord with their whole hearts. It was not long after their marriage that Danny began pastoring. In fact, he was the founding Pastor of Moss Bluff Assembly of God Church, which was established in 1976. While still pastoring, he became the Chaplain for the Lake Charles, La. office of State Troopers and finished Bible College. He continued pastoring, laying bricks, and chaplaincy throughout most of his life. Through these means, he was able to touch and influence the lives of many wonderful people. Brother Miller also enjoyed traveling. He went on three different tours of the Holy Land, as well as three or four other countries. He always followed the Lord in all that he did. He was able to help many people and was well-loved everywhere he went. In many ways, he was a “model” pastor, always serving his people unselfishly and encouraging them to reach higher! He will be truly missed. Daniel is survived by his son, Ben Miller and fiancé, Rebecca Brock of Sims; son, David Miller of Bailey; sister, Dot Sarver and husband Richard, of Leesville, La.; and brother, Chester Miller and wife, Sybil of Lake Charles, La.; brother-in-law, Donald Sistrunk and wife, Darlene; as well as many loved nieces and nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his loving wife of over forty years, Gloria “Jeannie” Miller; brother, Ernest David “Buddy” Miller; and parents, Alfred James Miller and Gladys Ruth Moore.
