An elderly woman was beaten and sexually assaulted in her home on Caroline Street Wednesday night.

Lake Charles Police Lt. Jeffrey Keenum said officers responded to an emergency assist call just after 10:30 p.m. in the 2900 block
of Caroline St. in reference to an emergency assist.

Upon arrival, Keenum said officers discovered an elderly female who had been severely beaten and sexually assaulted. She was transported to a local hospital via ambulance, where she is still recovering from her injuries.

Detectives are actively investigating this case and are searching for an unknown, skinny, black male suspect.
