The Calcasieu Parish School Board is set to receive more than $8 million through two Federal Emergency Management Agency grants.
U.S. Sen. Clay Higgins, R-Louisiana, said the board will be receiving $8,442,373 in total — one for $1,379,085.71 and another for $7,063,287.13 — to repair damages resulting from Hurricane Laura
“Southwest Louisiana continues to remain resilient throughout the recovery mission,” Higgins said. “We do not let storms destroy our communities or spirit. Our office has delivered over $4 billion in hurricane recovery funding and will continue to work closely with our local, state, and federal partners to deliver much needed resources and relief so that we may continue to prosper. We are Louisiana strong.”

Higgins said the $1.3 million will be for repairs to the Sulphur High School ninth-grade campus. The $7 million will pay for repairs to Reynaud Middle School.
The reimbursement is made at 90 percent federal cost-share and authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act, which Higgins supported.
