Richard Pousson

Richard Pousson, 86, of Lake Charles passed away at 10:23 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023 in a Jennings care center.

Mr. Pousson was born on March 13, 1937 in Richie, La.  He was a graduate of St. Francis High School and lived most of his life in the Lake Charles area.  Following graduation, he joined the US Army.  Upon being honorably discharged, he furthered his education at USL in Lafayette receiving an engineering degree.  He began his career as an engineer and worked for Citgo and later started a business called True Value Hardware in Westlake.  Mr. Pousson was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Joseph “Joey” Pousson, Jr. (Len) of Westlake, Sandy Pousson of Moss Bluff, and Debbie Campbell of Moss Bluff; sisters Mary Ann Thibodeaux (Allen) of Eunice and Stella Duhon of Crowley; brothers, Lyndon Pousson (Brenda) of Reserve, Daniel Pousson (Karen) of Florida, and Edward Pousson (Lai Kheng) of Singapore; fourteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Pousson; parents, Edna and Andrew Pousson, Sr.; siblings, Allen Pousson, David Pousson (Carolyn), Nicholas Pousson, and Andrew Pousson, Jr.; a granddaughter, Ariel Thigpen; and son in law, Leon Campbell.

A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.  The Rev. Ruben Villarreal will officiate.  Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in Eunice.  Visitation will begin in Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.and will continue in the church on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the start of the mass.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of Mr. Pousson’s caregivers as well as the staff at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings.
