Kevin David Breaux, 58, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023, in his childhood home.
Kevin was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, except for about 7 years when he lived in the Baton Rouge area in the 1990’s. He was a 1982 graduate of Barbe High School.
One of his favorite pastimes was cooking. His love of cooking started in his teenage years when he worked at Pat O’Carroll’s and Pat O’Carroll’s The Vault restaurants. His primary career though was as a sign fabricator at SignWorld, then at Jones Signs in Denham Springs, La., before returning to SignWorld, where he worked for the last 25 years.
He took great pride in his first house, on Bilbo Street, where he enjoyed refurbishing the old home and taking care of the yard and fruit trees. Sadly, hurricane Rita took his home, after which he moved back to his childhood home with his parents where he remained and took care of them until their passing, and eventually his.
He dearly loved his cats, including Picasso, Jackson, Tan Kitty and Lady Winston, along with numerous strays that he cared for over the years.
He leaves to honor his memory, two brothers, Michael Alan Breaux and wife, Susan Gail Salvo of Lafayette, and Steven Marc Breaux and wife, Susan Kay Thomas of Lake Charles; and 14 nieces and nephews, including Samantha Deroche (Mark), Natalie Ayres (Andrew), Corey Breaux, Eric Breaux, Jessica Breaux, Jason Salvo, Jennifer Breaux, Justin Breaux, Juliet Palmer (Brandon), Jason Breaux, Chelsea Breaux, Christopher Breaux, Connor Breaux, and Daniel Breaux.
He was welcomed into Heaven by the loving arms of his parents, Allen and Betty Jo Tilleux Breaux; and his sister, Tanya Breaux, who was his closest friend during her last years on this earth.
Those closest to him knew that though life’s struggles may have hardened him on the outside, on the inside he had a loving soul and a kind and gentle heart.
A Celebration of his life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023 in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather from 2 p.m. until the time of the service in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hobo Hotel for Cats at hoboho telforcats.com.
