Delourse Barnhill Veillon, 95, of Lake Charles passed away at 12:00 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023 in Houston, Texas.
Delourse was born on January 2, 1928 in Marthaville, La and was a previous long term resident of Lake Charles. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Lake Charles where she volunteered for children’s Sunday School.
She loved decorating her home and cooking, especially for the holidays, until the very end. Delourse worked with ceramics and left behind cherished decorations for those that she loved. Although she lived up through her teen years without electricity, she was navigating through the digital world and internet by the time of her death.
Those left to cherish her memory are three children, Stephen Veillon of Houston, Michael Veillon of Sulphur, and Scott Veillon of Lake Charles. She was affectionately known as “Mimi” by ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Daily Veillon, whom she missed the most; parents, Robert Franklin and Minnie Ingram Barnhill; and nine siblings.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Johnny Dammon will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin at12:00 p.m. and continue until the start of the service.
