Fire crews were on standby Tuesday at Calcasieu Refining as a tank that was struck by lightning and caught fire earlier this month was dismantled.
It’s shown here between and behind the two white tanks. On Saturday, the dismantling effort led to a fire requiring a 45-minute shelter in place, according to Dick Gremillion, the director of the Office of Homeland Security.
He reminds residents who are not registered with the Louisiana Calcashout program to do so. It’s been used to notify residents about missing children and senior citizens. It’s also used to issue shelter-in-place and other alerts. Visit www.CalcaShout.com to sign up.
