Above-normal temperatures will continue today and into early next week with an excessive heat warning in effect for most of Southwest Louisiana.
National Weather Service Lake Charles meteorologist Donald Jones said the excessive heat warning — which means a heat index of 113 degrees or higher — is in effect 11 a.m.-7 p.m. today and Sunday.
“Those exposed to these temperatures for extended periods without break will be susceptible to heat exhaustion and heat stroke,” Jones said.
The above normal temperatures are forecast to continue into early next week with some modest relief possible by Wednesday.
