John Reginald Keogh

John Reginald Keogh “Reggie”, 78, of Sulphur, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2023, at his home with family by his side. Reggie was born on August 10, 1944, in New Orleans to Vincent and Mary Keogh.
After graduating from Baton Rouge High School in 1962, he attended LSU and graduated from law school in 1969 with a Juris Doctorate degree and was 2nd Lieutenant in R.O.T.C. He was a member of the Judge Advocate General Corp and after his tour in Vietnam he attended the University of Houston’s Career Prosecutors Course and became the Chief Prosecutor for the Theater Army Support Command stationed in Worms, Germany. During his time there, he traveled throughout Germany and Ethiopia as a prosecutor. After active duty he returned to Baton Rouge to form a law partnership with his brother in 1973. In addition to practicing law, he continued his career in the U.S. Army reserves retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He also taught at the LSU paralegal studies school.
Reggie will be remembered fondly as a family man. With his wife, Jenny, he helped create a tight knit family. As an avid traveler, he visited over 150 different countries. He regularly shared his trips with his children and grandchildren, instilling in them his love for adventure. His deep love of foreign culture led to his interest in many passions including the love of food, wine, and photography. Reggie was an accomplished photographer with numerous societal affiliations and honors.
Reggie enjoyed his life’s passions despite his long battles with multiple forms of cancer. Due to his unrelenting determination and perseverance, Reggie never let his ailments slow him down on his quest to experience all life’s wonders. He has and will continue to inspire those fighting illness to live life to the fullest.
Reggie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Joseph Keogh, and his son-in-law, J. Rock Palermo III.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Jennifer Keogh of Sulphur, daughters, Kim Palermo of Sulphur, Keri Keogh of Florida, son, Scott Seeliger and wife Sheila of Cedar Park, Texas, six grandchildren, Rachel Palermo, Ryan and wife Madison Palermo, Sarah Palermo, Mikayla Seeliger, and Mikenna Seeliger, and one great grandchild, Brooks Keogh Palermo. Reggie will be missed as a loving husband, father, and “Pawpaw”.
Visitation for Reggie will be from Noon until 2p.m., Monday, June 12, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, La. 70605, with his Memorial Service beginning at 2p.m. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
