3 Allen Parish men charged in fatal drive-by shooting

Three Allen Parish men have been arrested in connection to a fatal drive-by shooting earlier this week in Rapides Parish.

Jaiden Holmes, 19, of Elizabeth, Nicholas Earl Holmes, 20, of Oakdale and Jason Deangelo Walker, 18, of Oakdale were arrested this week on charges of second degree-murder, assault by driving-by shooting and criminal conspiracy. Nicholas Holmes was also arrested on eight counts of cyberstalking.

Jaiden and Nicholas Holmes are being held in the Rapides Parish Detention Center each on a $1.52 million bond. The bond for Walker has been set at $1.02 million.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected authorities said in a press release from the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The charges stem from a homicide investigation which began Tuesday night in Glenmora.

According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, patrol deputies and officers with the Glenmora Police Department responded to a report of a shooting near 13th Street and Division Street around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, a victim with a gunshot wound was located.

The victim, who was later identified as Derrick Harris, 19, of Glenmora was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Police believe the shooting resulted from an altercation between the suspects and the victim which resulted in gunfire.

Through investigative techniques and evidence located at the scene, detectives were able to develop three individuals from the Oakdale area as suspects.

Through cooperation and assistance of the Oakdale Police Department, Rapides Parish detectives were able to execute numerous search warrants, which led to the recovery of evidence and numerous witnesses to the incident.

The Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office and Oakdale Police Department assisted with the investigation.
