James “Buster” Virgil Thomas Jr.

CULLMAN — A Graveside funeral service and interment for James Virgil “Buster” Thomas Jr., 90, will be Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Cullman City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.
Mr. Thomas died on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at UAB Hospital. He was born Aug. 4, 1932, in Kansas, to James Virgil Thomas Sr. and Ida Sprague Thomas.
He was employed by PPG Industries in Plant B, working as an Instrument Manager, prior to his retirement. He was a hard working intelligent man that would never fail to be there to catch you if you were to fall. As a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served in the Korean War.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Frances Thomas; children, Wanda Primeaux and Melin Allen; a brother, C.W. Thomas; and his parents.
Survivors include, sons, Dr. James “Bud” Thomas (Lisa) and Drew Istre (Cheryl), Kalispell, Mont.; daughter, Linda Morgan, Ruston, La.; sister, Lila May LeBlanc; brothers, Pete Thomas and Paul Thomas; son-in-law, Ray Primeaux; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers
