Gary Goff continues to add big pieces to his puzzle … literally.
The latest to sign with the Cowboys is Dominck Bolden, a 6-foot-1, 300-pound defensive tackle. Bolden officially became a Cowboy Wednesday, adding to Goff’s impressive recruiting class.
Bolden will transfer to McNeese State after spending his freshman season at Navarro Community College in Corsicana, Texas. He will have three years of eligibility remaining for the Pokes.
Bolden signs a week after McNeese picked up wide receiver Marcus Peterson from Cincinnati. Both the defensive line and receiver positions were considered needs for improvement by Goff after spring football.
“We had both of those spots as needs to upgrade,” said Goff. “We still have some work to do but we are working hard to finish this up.”
Goff said he is still looking for another wide receiver and defensive tackle.
“After spring camp we saw those positions are are biggest needs,” he said. “We have stayed active in getting those holes filled.”
Goff also said that he would not mind getting another offensive tackle to add depth, but proclaimed that was more of a wish list than a real need. McNeese has five current scholarships available as of right now.
As for Bolden, who played in five games at Navarro, he is just 18 years old.
“To be so young and be really put together is impressive,” said Goff. “He has good hands and feet and with his age is somebody who can really develop fast.
“He is very explosive and fills a big need for us.”
Goff hopes to sign a few more pieces in the coming weeks. Summer classes at McNeese begin June 9.
