Linda Jane Kennedy

Linda Jane Kennedy went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at the age of 80 years, at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital in Lake Charles, La., with her loving family by her side. Jane was born on June 15, 1942 in Ville Platte, La., to Clifford T. and Maurice LaCaze Nolen.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church in DeRidder, La. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, starting a 11 a.m. at The First Baptist Church in DeRidder, La., with the Rev. Jerry Masters and the Rev. Steve Graves officiating. Interment will follow at the Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, La. Funeral service is under the care and direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, La.

Jane was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Luther Kennedy of DeRidder, La.; son, Randy Morrison and wife Karen of Leesville, La.; daughter, Lindy Moore and husband  Mike of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Chase Moore and wife, Amy of Denver, Colo.,  and Whitney Bass and husband Chance of DeRidder, La.; great-granddaughter, Isla Bass; step-sons, Don Kennedy and wife Terri of Huntsville, Ark., and John Kennedy and wife Cindy of Hope, Ark.; step daughter-in-law, Linda Kennedy of Waldron, Ark.; 17 step grandchildren; 11 step great-grandchildren; stepbrother, David Burton and wife Carolyn of DeRidder; stepsister, Marilyn Gremillion of DeRidder; special friends, Paula Shirley and Mary Jane Wilbanks; and extended relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Maurice Nolen; her first husband, David Neal Morrison; and step-son, Dan Kennedy.

Jane was a member of the First Baptist Church of DeRidder, she was a member of the Senior Adult Choir and enjoyed traveling with the church on many mission trips. She was a charter member of the Common Threads Quilt Guild, a former member of the DeRidder Garden Club, and a graduate of the DeRidder High School Class of 1960, with whom she was still closely connected. Jane loved like Jesus and brought a little heaven to earth with her accepting, loving, and generous spirit.

The family would like to extend a warm thank you to Dr. Michael Bergeron, Dr. Virgil Murray, Dr. Carlos Chaucino, and Dr. Dang Nguyen and the amazing staff of Cornerstone Specialty Hospital. Also, a world of thanks to Paula Shirley, Mary Jane Wilbanks, Nicky Thomas, and Penny Irwin for their loyal support and an unending assistance.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Jane’s memory can be made to First Baptist Church DeRidder or to the charity of one’s choice.
