Anne Geise Phillips, 90, of Lake Charles, La., passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Born April 26, 1932, in Lancaster, Pa., Mrs. Phillips graduated from Ridley Park High School and Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing, where she met the love of her life, Edward Walton “Pete” Phillips Jr. She followed his residency to New Orleans and Shreveport, and they then settled in Lake Charles, La., in 1960.  She embraced the role as a mom and stayed home to take care of their four sons.  Once they were older, she worked as a registered nurse alongside her husband at Campbell and Phillips.  Mrs. Phillips was a longtime member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where she helped with the Brown Bag Program and collected items for Christmas stockings for Rosewood Nursing Home. She enjoyed visiting the elderly as she would sing and entertain with her grandchildren at the local nursing homes.  She was an avid reader and a past member of the original Lake Charles book club. She also enjoyed painting and traveling and during her younger years she taught others to waterski.  She will always be remembered for her kind and giving nature and cherished the time she spent with her family.  She loved singing to her grandchildren and this tradition, along with her songs, will continue with their families.
