Local man arrested after school notifies law enforcement of bruised child

A Welsh man is facing child abuse charges after authorities responded to a possible cruelty to a juvenile complain at a local school earlier this month.
Jeremy Todd Mallett, 38, was arrested Monday on charges of domestic abuse battery with strangulation, domestic abuse battery with child endangerment and cruelty to juveniles after scratches and some bruising were observed on a 13-year-old juvenile.
The charges result from an incident that allegedly occurred on April 4 in Mallett’s home, according to Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Chris Ivey.
