James (Jimmy) Worley Jr., 67, of Lake Charles, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023, in a Lafayette hospital.
James (Jimmy) Worley, Jr. was born on Nov. 22, 1955, in Monroe, La., but lived most of his adulthood in Nashville, and Cookeville, Tenn., before retiring and residing in Lake Charles, La. He graduated from Neville High School in Monroe and enlisted following graduation. He served proudly in our U.S. Navy as a submarine sailor and was always proud to call himself a “bubble head.”
Mr. Worley fought bravely since August against COVID-19 and a series of related ailments. He suffered a series of setbacks and was unable to reach his goal of returning home and spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Worley was preceded in death by his mother, Rubye Carolyn Stewart of Lake Charles; father, James F. Worley Sr. of LaGrange, Texas; and niece, Megan Leigh Chavez.
He is survived by his sister, Kimberley Worley Smith and her husband Wendell Smith of Lake Charles; and two nephews, Michael Chavez of Austin, and Christian Chavez of Richmond, Va.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
