Two arrests made in Lake Charles drive-by shooting

Two people have been arrested in a Thursday afternoon drive-by shooting in the 1500 block of Clover Drive.

Lake Charles Police Deputy Chief Franklin Fondel said the gunfire struck a nearby residence. He said witnesses statements and video surveillance from the surrounding area led to the arrest of 19-year-old Katelyn Renee Prescott of Lake Charles and a 15-year-old male juvenile.

Fondel said the suspect vehicle used, a small black SUV was observed in the 4400 block of 5th Avenue later that night with the two occupants inside. He said SWAT officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and both subjects were taken into custody without incident.

Prescott is charged with one count of assault by drive-by shooting and one count of contributing to the delinquency of juveniles in commission of a crime. Her bond, set by Judge Tony Fazzio, is $175,000.

She was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and remains in custody.

The 15-year-old juvenile has been charged with one count of assault by drive-by shooting and one count of possession of a firearm by juvenile. Judge Cynthia Guillory signed a juvenile custodial affidavit and the suspect was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center. He remains in custody at the issuance of this release.
