BECi members re-elected

Beauregard Electric Cooperative announces that three directors have been elected without opposition during the 2023 Board of Director Election.

Donald R. Bush, District One incumbent director and a resident of Pickering has served on the BECi Board in District One since 1989. Bush, a retired school administrator and teacher, holds a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Science from McNeese State University and is a member of the Pickering Lodge 477, attends Cooper Baptist Church, and is a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite and Shriner. He has also served as a board member, president, and vice president on the West Louisiana Forestry Festival Fair Board and as Vernon Parish Retired Teacher Association president. Bush is an NRECA Credentialed Cooperative Director with an NRECA Board Leadership Certification.

Incumbent director J.R. Hickman will continue to represent District Three. A resident of DeRidder, Hickman has served on the BECi Board in District Three since 1993. Hickman is a retired educator with 33 years of teaching experience and attended McNeese State University, University of Louisiana-Lafayette, and Northwestern State University and holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree +30 in education. Hickman hails from a Beauregard Parish Pioneer Family and is a member of Grace Church, the Beauregard Parish Fair Board, member and past president of the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives, an NRECA Credentialed Cooperative Director, charter member, past president and past state board member of the Beauregard Parish Association of Professional Educators in Louisiana, past board member of the High School FFA Rodeo Association and Beauregard Farm Bureau, and is a 32nd-degree Mason and Shriner. Hickman is a former assistant principal of DeRidder High School and a former agriculture teacher at DeRidder High School and Merryville High School.

Thomas “Tommy” Cryar, a resident of Moss Bluff, will remain as the incumbent director of District Nine and has served on the BECi Board in District Nine since 2020. Cryar graduated from Sam Houston High School and afterward attended McNeese State University. Tommy is a real estate investor. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Gillis.

Beauregard Health CFO retires

Darrell L. Kingham, CPA, has served as the chief financial officer of Beauregard Health System for the last 34 years.

Kingham retired March 31, leaving a legacy of trust, integrity, kindness, friendship and a lifetime of service to the Health System and community.

Prior to becoming the CFO of Beauregard Health System, Kingham worked for seven years in public accounting specializing in healthcare at Broussard & Company, CPA, in Sulphur. In his role at BHS, Kingham oversaw financial planning and forecasting, financial analysis, accounting, auditing, budget preparations, managed care contract negotiations, charge master, regulatory compliance, investment and tax return and Medicare and Medicaid cost report preparation. Additionally, he was responsible for overseeing the Health System’s revenue cycle management, plant operations, materials management, health information management, case management, dietary and information technology departments.

Darrell is a native to Lake Charles, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from McNeese State University. He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants and the Lake Charles Chapter of Certified Public Accountants.

Roe anesthesia medical director

SULPHUR — Richard R. Roe, IV, MD, anesthesiologist, was recently named medical director of West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital’s anesthesiology services. As medical director, Roe will provide oversight of anesthesia patient care services for the organization.

Roe is a graduate of the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport and completed his anesthesiology residency at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. He is board certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology and is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Louisiana Society of Anesthesiologists and sits on the board of the Louisiana Society of Anesthesiologists PAC.

Roe is also active in the community serving as a member of the Sowela School of Nursing and Allied Health Advisory Committee, and possesses a passion for philanthropy.

Duncan joins Memorial Medical

Lake Charles Memorial Health System welcomes Kurt A. Duncan, MD, interventional cardiologist, to its medical staff and to the Memorial Heart & Vascular team.

Duncan, FACC, FSCAI completed his medical degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. His post-graduate training includes an internal medicine residency from Wayne State University in Detroit, and an echocardiography fellowship from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He then furthered his medical education with a clinical nuclear cardiology fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn., followed with a cardiovascular disease fellowship at New York Medical College – Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY, an interventional cardiology/peripheral vascular fellowship at Wayne State University – Detroit Medical Center, Detroit, MI, and concluded with advanced procedural trainings in echocardiography from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, nuclear cardiology at Yale University School of Medicine and interventional/peripheral vascular training at Detroit Medical Center – Harper Hospital.

Most recently Duncan practiced with Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, Miss. He is board-certified in Interventional Cardiology and in Cardiovascular Disease through the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Lake Charles Memorial Health System welcomes Karl A. Duncan, MD, interventional cardiologist, to its medical staff and to the Memorial Heart & Vascular team.

Duncan, MD, FSCAI completed his medical degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. His post-graduate training includes an internal medicine residency and a cardiovascular fellowship from Wayne State University in Detroit. He then furthered his medical education with an advanced cardiac imaging fellowship from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons – St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York, N.Y., a coronary and cardiac CT fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health Center – Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Md., and concluded with an interventional cardiology/peripheral vascular fellowship at Wayne State University – Harper University Hospital in Detroit. Most recently, he practiced with Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Duncan is board-certified as an Interventional Cardiologist through the American Board of Internal Medicine.
