For at least six months, Gregg Heath, worship leader at Open Door Biker Church has been proclaiming the coming of Eddie B., prompting the question by those who haven’t heard of the guy to ask, “What’s so special about Eddie B.?”
Rev. Steve Stark, The ROC Church and Rev. Jay Lawson, Open Door Biker Church filled in some of the blanks.
Eddie and wife Sandi founded Conviction for Christ Ministries 31 years ago. He is a singer/songwriter and has produced and recorded 49 albums. Two of his songs have been used in movies. Lawson defines his style of music as rock- and blues-influenced. Eddie has authored five books. He performs hundreds of concerts each year and is on the road nine months out of the year. He has a Doctorate Degree from Agape Bible College and he has started his own, free, one-year missions college in Albuquerque that enrolls the incarcerated, convicts and ex-gang members. In addition to one year of intense Bible study, students learn basic accounting, math, English, computer technology , public speaking, writing and MS Word Excel. He ministers at 300 prisons every year.
After he performs his music, he’ll bring the message, “The Devil Is Still Stealing Your Fruit,” a message about the enemy who wants to steal the fruit God intends for His people to further His kingdom.
“He’s a man with a past, like we all are,” said Lawson. Stark said Eddie B. was in a gang and his childhood was less than ideal. All that changed when he accepted Christ.
“You have to experience Eddie B. Stark said. “I guess it’s his energy and demeanor, the special way that he brings the gospel that sets him apart.”
Eddie B. said his story isn’t his. It’s a story about the mercy of God.
There is one bit of information Stark and Lawson fell short of providing, what the “B” stands for.
“No one knows,” Lawson said. “It’s been a question for years.”
