Warning to parents: Emergency training planned at Sulphur school Friday

On Friday, March 31, a training exercise event for Career and Technical education students in Calcasieu Parish school systems will take place on Sulphur High School’s 9th grade campus.

Various local emergency response agencies, such as law enforcement, ambulance crews, fire personnel and emergency responders will be participating in the training exercises, which are for students enrolled in emergency medical response courses.

The Calcasieu Parish School Board said community members should not be alarmed by an excessive amount of emergency response agency presence at and around Sulphur High School throughout the day.

The majority of emergency response service vehicles are tentatively expected to arrive at 9:30 a.m, with AirMed arriving on campus  at approximately 10:30 a.m to discuss aircraft safety with students.

The full tentative schedule is as follows:

  • 8 a.m. – Office Emergency Preparedness Demonstration with incident command trailer

  • Email newsletter signup

    9:30 to 10 a.m. – Emergency services arrives

  • 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. – AirMed arrives

  • 11:30 a.m. – Lunch

  • 12 p.m. – MCI drills

  • 1 p.m. – Debriefing
