Joseph Stephen (Steve) Darbonne, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
Steve was born on Aug. 29, 1948, in Lake Charles, La., to Percy and Maude Darbonne. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy on land during the Tet Offensive in the Vietnam War. After returning home, Steve worked as a boilermaker in the construction industry and went on to enjoy a 35 year career at Citgo where he retired as a supervisor. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending all of his children and grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. Steve will be remembered for his great generosity and sense of humor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Abshire Darbonne; children, Steve Darbonne (Samantha) and Michelle Darbonne Fontenot (Brandon); grandchildren, Abigail and Riley Fontenot and Harper, Reese and Margeaux Darbonne; siblings, Kenneth Darbonne (Susan) and Jenny Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cyril and Donald Darbonne; and sister, Sue Waits.
Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
