On Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, Mary “Lois” Gothreaux quietly and peacefully entered her heavenly home. She gave those that knew her many gifts along her lifetime; but one of the greatest was to always let those she loved to know how much they meant to her. Her love language was service to others; she was selfless in so many ways. It could be her smile, laughter, friendship and equally enjoyable her gifts of food. Brownies were always in the kitchen or her contribution to the party!
She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Mother-in-Law, Grandmother, Sister, Sister-in-Law, Aunt, and Friend to many.
Lois was born on June 12, 1936, in Loreauville, La., to Edgar and Emerite Peltier. She married John Gothreaux in 1957 and moved to Southwest Louisiana where she lived and raised her family.
She leaves behind her immediate family, Lisa, Steven, Cole, Danny, Roxie, and Billy, in addition to a sister, Joyce.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and other family members.
Lois enjoyed working in a shoe boutique (Explains her collection of shoes) in Lake Charles, where she made friends with her clients and became lifelong friends with her co-workers, Lois, and Kay.
She loved to cook and especially loved to entertain her family. The ladies from New Iberia would always plan an annual trip to eat, visit and play cards until late at night. The calls she received from family members in Texas and Louisiana were always cherished and something she looked forward to!
Friends of her children were always a friend of hers especially, the Hebert boys, the Lozano’s, and Linda.
She will be deeply missed, but there are so many good memories that will be remembered with fondness: The Christmas rollover, the wig, wine and three gingersnaps, her roast, and (you fill in the blanks with your precious memory; no doubt there is more than one)!
