Gene Elkan Richardson

Gene Elkan Richardson, age 88, of Westlake, La., passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, and was born on Thursday, April 26, 1934, in Jonesville, La.
Gene proudly served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Conoco Phillips. He was also most affectionately known as “Grumpy” to his family and friends. Gene was an avid gardener and a master carpenter. He deeply loved his family and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Robert and Amey Tarver Richardson; grandson, Eric Lee Friesner; and great-granddaughter, Lily Kate Harrison.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Mattie Belle Weaver Richardson; four children, Vonda Friesner (Craig), Jesse Richardson (Malia), Sharla Watson (David), and John Richardson (Cecilia); 10 grandchildren, Erin Fullington (Matt), Evan Friesner (Victoria), Ashleigh Richardson (Micheal), Whitney Reeves (Tony), Lauren Harrison (Cade), Katelyn Himel (Cade), Markus Richardson (Taylor), Philip Richardson, Alec Liggio (Abby), and Aden Liggio; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlotte White and Julie Ashleigh; sister-in-law, JoAnn Hebert (Tom); special friends, Dan Duncan; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. until time of service on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Hixson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff.
Funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, in the Chapel of Hixson Funeral Home, Moss Bluff, with the Rev. Lamar Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery.
