Janet Armistead Benoit, 73, of Moss Bluff went to be with the Lord and joined her husband, Fred, on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loved ones.
Mrs. Benoit was born on Sept. 18, 1949, in Lake Charles and was raised in Moss Bluff where she graduated from Sam Houston High School. She moved to Philadelphia, Pa., in 1986, furthered her education and became a registered EMG and EEG technician while working at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Benoit returned to Moss Bluff in the early 2000s and continued her career at Neuro Associates until retirement.
In high school, she danced on the Broncettes dance line which led her to acquire a passion for dancing. In her later years she was able to pursue her love of dancing with the ladies at the Senior Center in Moss Bluff and also as a 12th Night Reveler. Mrs. Benoit was very proud of her culture and cherished everything Louisiana. Her favorite place to be was at the beach enjoying the warm sun and the sounds of waves with sand between her toes. She could also be found in her flower beds tending to her flowers and plants.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory a daughter, Angela Farquhar (Kirt) of Moss Bluff; grandsons, Jacob Farquhar of Wilmington, N.C., and Joshua Farquhar of San Antonio, Texas; great-grandchild, Catherine Farquhar of Wilmington, N.C.; grandson of her heart, Ethan Benoit (Jill) of Moss Bluff; her very best friend and sidekick, Donna Dailey of San Augustine, Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Fred Benoit Jr.; parents, Thelma and Ora Armistead; and brother, Pat Armistead.
The family would like to thank the phenomenal team at Harbor Hospice for their exceptional care of both Fred and Janet Benoit.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel in Moss Bluff. A gathering of family and friends will begin from 11 a.m. and continue until the start of the service.
