Michael Hunter Cross, 66 of Moss Bluff, La., passed away at 11:52 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2023, after a battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
Mike was born Nov. 21, 1956, in Baton Rouge, La. He was raised in Beaumont, Texas, where he attended High School and met the love of his life. He proudly served as a Sergeant E-4 in the U.S. Air Force from 1976 to 1980. He was stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, NM, where he worked on airplane engines. After his release from active duty, he began his twenty-four-year career with IBM, retiring in 2004 as a Senior Technician Team Lead. Mike settled in Moss Bluff in 1990, where he enjoyed spending time outdoors and working in his shop. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and loved to ride his motorcycle. He was a past member and past president of the HOG (Harley Owner’s Group). Although those things had a special place in his heart, his family was always most important to him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Marino Cross; daughters, whom called him “Daddio”, Jessica Armstrong (Jeremy) of Moss Bluff, and Roxanne Cross of Lake Charles; brother, Randall Cross of The Woodlands, Texas; sister, Tanya Cross of Moss Bluff; granddaughters, Jadyn Armstrong, Jaylee Armstrong, and Fallon Cross; best-friend, Glenn Rogers (Nancy) of Lake Charles; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Donald and Jean Carrell Cross; brother, Nicholas Cross; and sister-in-law, Sharon Cross.
His funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Bart Leger will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. and continue on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the start of the service.
Pallbearers for the service will be Randall Cross, Jeremy Armstrong, Jadyn Armstrong, Kristian Cross, Glenn Rogers, and Shannon Stebbins.
