Mary Eastridge Frye

Mary Eastridge Frye, 90, of Sulphur, passed away surrounded by her family on March 6, 2023, in a local hospital. She was born to David and Gladys Henderson Eastridge on Sept. 22, 1932.
Mary was born into a caring, loving, and close family, which she instilled into her own family as well. While in high school, Mary played basketball and was a cheerleader from 1947-48. She was also in the Saltshaker Varsity Club, Commercial Club, FHA Club, and the Beta Club. Mary was the secretary of her junior and senior class and was on the Annual Staff. She was in the Senior Class Play and in the Band. Mary went to college for a short time and taught McCready Headstart until her husband, D.L., was transferred to Lake Charles Olin Chemical Plant in 1971. She was a member of Bellview Baptist Church. Mary dearly loved her family. Her children, beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren were her heart.
Those left to cherish her memory are brothers, James “Bud” Eastridge of Saltville, Va., Bob Eastridge (Peggy) of Saltville, Va., Wayne Eastridge (Lou) of Damascus, Va.; sister, Patsy Buchanan of Meadowview, Va.; sister-in-law, Mary Eastridge of Jonesborough, TN.; son-in-law, Leo Thibodeaux of Henderson, Texas. Mary has 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Frye Sr.; daughters, Patricia Frye Wolfe and husband Richard, Anita Gail Frye McNiel, MaryAnn Hayzlett and husband Larry, Karen Frye Thibodeaux; sons, Mark Frye and David Frye Jr.; granddaughter, Jessica McNiel; brothers, Harold Eastridge, David Eastridge, Vernon Eastridge; sister, Nancy Clark and husband Lewis; brother-in-law, Roger Buchanan; sister-in-law, Betsey Eastridge.
Funeral service for Mary will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Westlake Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home, Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday from 8 a.m. until time of service.
