A Lake Charles man accused of following two female juveniles around Oberlin was arrested Tuesday on a stalking charge in Allen Parish.

Daniel James LeBleu, 37, was booked into the Allen Parish Jail on a charge of stalking, according to Sheriff Doug Hebert III. The bond is pending.

The Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office began investigating the incident Friday after receiving reports of a man following two young female juveniles at several locations in the Oberlin area.

Authorities said a man in a silver hatchback style vehicle stalked the two girls at the town park where he circled the park for over 30 minutes.

The juveniles left the park and left town in their vehicles, Hebert said. When the girls returned to town, the man was parked nearby their residence and began following them again, he said.

The juveniles pulled into a local business in Oberlin, where the suspect entered the next driveway, exited his vehicle and approached the girls at which time he told them he was doing a church scavenger hunt and needed their socks. The juveniles gave the man their socks and in turn, he gave them a gift card that was supposed to have $50 on it.

Authorities believe the gift card was purchased from a CVS store in Lake Charles.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Real Time Crime Center assisted in the investigation and were able to identify LeBleu as the suspect, Hebert said.

An arrest warrant was issued Monday. LeBleu was arrested Tuesday with the assistance of the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office.
