Making a big splash: Sabine Pools, Spas & Furniture to be featured on April 21 episode of ‘Designing Spaces’

Swimming season is right around the corner. The pool products shortage of 2022 has subsided now that the local BioLab plant is back up and running. And, if the recent unseasonably warm days didn’t make folks think about pool weather, wait until they see the April 21 episode of “Designing Spaces.”

The home improvement show that travels the country to remodel, redecorate and redesign home spaces, made a Lake Charles stop earlier this month.

The topic was pool design and build and how to keep the water clear and sparkling with help from a BioGuard dealer. BioGuard, a water testing and care solutions dealer, chose locally-owned and operated Sabine Pools, Spas & Furniture to represent the brand.

“Sabine Pools is honored to be chosen from all of BioGuard’s dealers across the United States and Canada to represent the brand for this Designing Spaces episode,” said Grant Tassin, General Sales Manager.”

Sabine is a third generation BioGuard dealer with four locations. Founder is Houston Tassin, and now sons Joey, Dean and David are at the helm.

“When we looked for a dealer to represent the brand, it was an easy choice to work with Sabine and the Tassin family on this project,” said Ted Lawrence, Vice President of Sales for BioLab.

Filming was at 3213 Common St. and at the home of Jason and Kate Williams, or rather in their backyard.

“I wish every business owner could have a chance to do something like this,” Tassin said. My family has been in the pool business for 48 years, so I know the pool business. I’ve talked the pool business. But when those guys clapped their hands to signal taping was about to begin, everything I knew just went out of my head.”

Tassin was himself by mid-morning, he said and “it just all started flowing. I am glad those guys were patient.”

Beth Frey, Sabine Pools’ Inground Pool Sales Specialist pointed out that the time between the first consultation with Sabine Pools and being able to jump in clear, sparkling water takes a little longer than the time it takes to watch a home improvement show.

“Our homeowners start with an initial consultation, from which we develop a custom design. Once the contract is complete and that family gets on our dig schedule, we can start construction in eight to 10 weeks. The pool takes about six to eight weeks to build and an additional two weeks if the design includes a spa. As we get deeper into the season and more pools are contracted, the wait time gets a little longer.”

Despite pandemic-caused supply chain disruptions and the shortage of pool chemicals in 2020 through 2022, the market size of the pool industry continues to grow.
