Michael Edward Murray I, age 77, of Lake Charles, La., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023. He was born March 19, 1945 in Oronoco to Edward and Shirley Murray.
Michael resided most of his life in Sulphur, La., after serving 22 honorable years in the United States Air Force. He served three tours in Vietnam War. Michael worked for Chemical Waste Management as a safety trainer for 20 years before finally retiring.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Tina Williamson and husband Robert, Michael Murray II and wife Diane, and Edward Murray II and wife Tricia; grandchildren, Dawn’elle “AKA Noony” and Michael J. Small, Samantha Martin, Michael Murray III, Douglas, Taylor, Christian, Kimberlyann and Katherine Murray, Lauren, Jaron and Emilyn Aymond, Devin Kohlenberg, Jacob Hoffpauir, Shuntionio Pye, and Kailee “AKA Charlie” Murray; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Griffin, Emily Martin, Savannah Murray, Logan Murray, Noelle, Mariella and Remiel Murray, Tera and Asher Aymond; brothers, David, Steve and Roger Murray; sister, Terri Murray-Yatison.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and wife of 54 years, Priscilla Margaret Riley Murray.
The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake on Monday, Feb. 27, 2023 beginning at 10 a.m. with a Celebration of Life held at 11 a.m. led by Celebrant Jody Barrilleaux. Michael will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake.
