As deputies entered the interstate, they spotted a gray Chevrolet Malibu traveling at 94 miles per hours in a 70 mile per hour zone. The vehicle continued to accelerate, reaching 98 miles per hours near Roanoke.

The chase continued with the vehicle accelerating to 113 miles per hour, before changing lanes and cutting off a large truck. The vehicle then exited I-10 at Jennings, ran the stop sign and entered the on ramp going 70 miles per hour.

The vehicle reached speeds of 128 miles per hour, forcing vehicles off the interstate and forcing at least one truck into the median as it continued.

The vehicle then exited I-10 near Estherwood and drove into the ditch at the exit ramp and Jasmine Road near Crowley in Acadia Parish where Stewart was taken into custody without incident by Jennings police officers.
