A disturbance at a local motel Sunday led to the arrest of a Jennings man on domestic assault and battery charges.

Stephen James Eugene, 38, was arrested by the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office on charges of domestic abuse aggravated assault with child endangerment and domestic abuse battery with child endangerment following a disturbance with his girlfriend at the Budget Inn on La. 26.

Bond is set at $20,000.

The victim told deputies that Eugene had threatened to hit her in the face earlier in the day, but she had told him to stop or she would call the police.

Later in the day, she said Eugene got angry, got out of bed and punched her in the face multiple times. Children were present in the room during the incident.
