Joe Anna Gary, 88, of Lake Charles, died Feb. 22, 2023, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Calcasieu Parish to Joseph and Sylvia Elmer Calloura, Joe Anna graduated High School in 1952.  She was a longtime faithful member of Christ the King Catholic Church.  Joe Anna worked for J.C. Penny for 33 years, retiring in 1997 as a supervisor.
Those left to cherish her memory are one son, James C. Gary Jr. (Jeannie) of Westlake; four daughters, Debra Cobb (Donald), also of Westlake, Tina Marcantel (David) of LeBleu Settlement, Helene Massey (Tim) of Grand Lake, and Jolene Monlezun (Lawrence) of Nacogdoches, Texas; one sister, Barbara Angie of Lake Charles; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 59 years, James C. Gary Sr.
Visitation for Mrs. Gary will be Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA 70605.  A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, Monsignor Jace Eskind to officiate. Entombment will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
