Dannie Edward Fontenot

Dannie Edward Fontenot, 69, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023, as his Lord and Savior called him home. He was a long-time resident of Ragley, La.
Dannie was born on Oct. 26, 1953 to Edward and Annie (Ewing) Fontenot. He was a graduate of Sam Houston High School, where he met the love of his life, Patricia Hollier Fontenot.
After graduation, Dannie began his career in construction with R.E. Heidt Construction Company. He established Asphalt Associates, Inc. where he was owner and manager for 45 years.
Dannie spent most weekends in Toledo Bend, La. Besides fishing, one of his favorite things to do was pass along his passion for fishing to his children and grandchildren.
Dannie was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Shirley (Fontenot) Bruce and Deborah Ann (Fontenot) Wood; and nephew, Troy Wood.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Patricia Hollier Fontenot; his children, Charles (Alanna) Fontenot, Amanda (Brant) Smith, Lori (Brock) Israel; grandchildren, Andrew, Madison, and Ethan Fontenot, Kinlee and Kohen Smith, Eli Thibodeaux, Jacob (Melaina) Israel and Jalynn Israel; great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Parker Israel; siblings, Joyce (Fontenot) Canter and Keith (Cindy) Fontenot.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023 from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023 at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Moss Bluff, La., officiated by Father Jeff Starkovich. Burial will follow the service at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles, La.
