Reba Darlene (Gunter) Rachal, 71, of Sulphur, La., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, at her residence. She was born to her late parents, Walter and Marie Gunter on May 25, 1951, in Alexandria, La. She enjoyed fishing, crabbing, dancing with family and friends to zydeco music, loved playing Cadillac with family, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Reba was full of life and once you met her, you would never forget her. She was truly one of a kind.
She is survived by her son, Ronnie Joe Rachal (Mary Beth) of Sulphur, La.; daughter, Melissa Clark (Chris) of Sulphur, La.; brother, John Gunter of Colfax, La.; sisters, Sharon Williams (Bruce) of Rapids, Wisconsin and Karen Jones (the late PoBoy) of Sulphur, La.; grandchildren, Justin Leger, Weston Rachal, Rici Jo Rachal, Stevie Rae Gillard (Caden), Kristly Voge Murphy (Blake), Garret Voge, Khoury Clark (Lexi), and Keelyn Clark; along with great-grandchildren, Baylin Murphy, Bowen Murphy, Jax Gillard, Wyatt Gillard, and Caroline Marie Clark.
Reba was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ecky Joe Rachal; her parents; one daughter, Bridgette Voge; brother, Jimmy Smith; two sisters, Joann Nelson and Nathalie “Punk” Ramo; along with her nephew, J.J. Williams.
A Celebration of Reba’s life will be held at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jeanne Gunter officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday, from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss, La.
