Rebecca Ann Palermo, 63, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023.
Rebecca was a lifelong resident of Sulphur and a graduate of Sulphur High School. She spent most of her life working as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.
Rebecca enjoyed decorating and design, and loved to decorate for all of the holidays. She was also a sports fan and enjoyed watching football, volleyball, softball, and had a special passion for tennis, having always wanted to become a professional tennis player. Most of all she had a huge heart and loved her family, especially her dog and all of her nieces and nephews.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved dog, Sakkari; step-daughter, Allison Palermo Martin of New Orleans; sisters, Rosemary Hudson, Karen Holloway (Bart), and Patricia Victory, all of Sulphur, La., and Ginger Cranford Dearing of Las Vegas, Nev.; brothers, Leonard “Corky” Bauer of San Francisco, Calif., and Freddy Burgess Jr. (Lydia) of Woodville, Texas. Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents, Freddy L. Burgess and Norma Mary Foster Burgess; brother, Ronald Bauer; and sister, Sandra Beth Bauer.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Rebecca’s niece, Carissa Dewalt will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.
