Andrew Peter Cormier, 61, of Gillis died at 5:36 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2023, in his residence.
Mr. Cormier was born on Aug. 20, 1961, in Lake Charles and was raised in Gillis where he attended Sam Houston High School. He began his career as an auto mechanic and later began working on road construction and gained the title of supervisor.
He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, gardening, and raising cattle and pigs. Mr. Cormier will be remembered for his giving heart. If you met him, you were his friend for life.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, John and Daniel Cormier of Topsy; siblings, Yoko Rush (Raymond) of Moss Bluff, Richard Cormier Jr. (Vicki) of California, Ria Hansen (Robb) of Virginia, Allen Cormier (Sharon) of Moss Bluff, Helen Thompson (Scott) of Florida, and Levi Paul Cormier of Alabama; three grandchildren, Grayson Cormier, Sophia Cormier and Aubree Soileau; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noriko and Richard Cormier Sr.; and a brother, John Cormier.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel in Moss Bluff. The Rev. Glenn George will officiate. Burial will follow in New Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday from 9 a.m. until the start of the service.
