Yvonne Cecile Ackerman, age 90, of Houston, Texas formerly of Lake Charles, La. passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023. She was born on Dec. 28, 1932 to Jules and Camelia Povost Pellerin.
She attended St. Charles Academy in Lake Charles, La., she married Pat Doolan, Rusty Phillips and later in life, she married, Robert Louis Ackerman.
Yvonne was a homemaker, a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her daughters while they were growing up. She enjoyed visiting with friends, picnics with family, and traveling around Louisiana Cajun country spending time with relatives. Yvonne and Louis moved to the Houston area, where they attended St. Catherine Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. She and Louis, belonged to many dance groups in the Houston area. Yvonne was still line dancing at the age of 87. Her greatest joy was being Mumsie to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Yvonne spent hours playing games, putting together puzzles, and celebrating holidays.
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Louis Ackerman; mother, Camela Provost Pellerin; father, Jules A. Pellerin; brother, Jules A. Pellerin Jr.; son-in-law, Larry Huber Sr., and Rusty Phillips.
Yvonne leaves behind to cherish her memories daughter Patricia Doolan Joslin of The Woodlands, Texas; daughter, Cathy Doolan Huber of Lake Charles, La.; sister, Anne Akey of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren, Brady (Sheridan) Joslin of The Woodlands, Texas, Katie (Albert) Sanchez of Pflugerville, Texas, Chad (Samantha) Huber of Longville, La., Larry Huber Jr. of Lake Charles, La.; great-grandchildren, Leighton Joslin of The Woodlands, Texas, Maris Joslin of The Woodlands, Texas, Emma Huber of Longville, La., Baylee Huber of Longville, La., Julian Sanchez of Pflugerville, Texas, Ethan Sanchez of Pflugerville, Texas along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the many caring staff members of Reunion Court of The Woodlands for the care of Yvonne. We would particularly like to thank the care, given by Nancy Williams and her staff at Keepsake Gardens.
A memorial service will be held at a future date.
