In MLK Classic finale, Franklin beats LC College Prep

Franklin dominated the first quarter of the final game of the MLK Classic and cruised to a 64-49 win over Lake Charles College Prep.
The Hornets (10-3) opened the game with a 15-5 run and led the rest of the way. Prep (16-4) twice got within four points in the first half, but Franklin regained control by scoring the final four points of the first half and first four of the second half.
The Blazers made a final push in the fourth quarter, cutting a 16–point deficit to seven with a 9-0 run, but Franklin answered with seven straight to put the game away.
Jay’Shaun Johnson led Franklin with 21 points. Elijah Garrick and Ryan Batiste scored 12 each for the Blazers.

New Iberia (19-1) closed the game with a 10-3 run, taking the lead for good on a 3-pointer by Devin Frank with 2:26 left.
Iowa (17-4) stormed back from an early 16-3 deficit, taking its first lead late in the third quarter on a 3-pointer by Desamonte Gradney, who scored 12 of his game-high 23 points in the third to lead the Iowa comeback.
Dashawn Ceaser added 18 points for Iowa.

Oakdale (10-6) jumped out to a 10-0 lead less than two minutes into the game and never trailed.
The Warriors were up 17-2 before Falcons managed their first field goal with 2:48 left in the opening quarter. Oakdale shot 52.4 percent in the first quarter to build up a 26-8 lead.
The closest the Falcons (13-13) would get, 28-17, was with 5:37 left in the second quarter when Mile Eble hit a 3-pointer.
Elijah Anderson led three Warriors in double-figures with 16 points. D.J. Johnson had 14 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals, and Derrick Green added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
Wilt Hoggat scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for ESA. Jacob Vilar scored 12 points.

Kylei LeBlanc had 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Gators.
Keniya Jerro added 10 points for LaGrange, which took the lead for good by scoring the last 12 points of the first quarter. LeBlanc scored eight points in the run.
Zoe Spain scored 14 to lead Acadiana.

Fairview went on a 20-0 scoring rampage to close out the first half and break open a close game.
Kamiera McDonald’s 3-pointer pulled Scotlandville (14-6) within six, 30-24, with 4:28 left in the second quarter. Then the Panthers opened the flood gates, starting with a three-point play by Bella Smith, who posted her second double-double of the tournament with 11 points and 17 rebounds. Kaylee Guillory hit two of her five 3-pointers during the run and finished with 19 points.
Fairview’s (27-7) Ella Reeves led all scorers with 29 points, plus 11 rebounds, and point guard Reesie Jinks had 12 points.
McDonald finished with 16 points, and Trinitee Whitaker chipped in 13.
