Fred Daniel Benoit Jr. went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023.
He was born on Aug. 25, 1948, in Lake Charles, La., to Fred Daniel Benoit Sr. and Shirley Welch Benoit. He was a retired union structural ironworker who was always known for his strong work ethic and the importance he placed on his family. Fred served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Janet Armistead Benoit of Moss Bluff, La.; daughter, Angela Farquhar (Kirt) of Moss Bluff, La.; grandsons, Jacob Farquhar of Wilmington, N.C., and Joshua Farquhar of San Antonio, Texas; great-granddaughter, Catherine Farquhar of Wilmington, N.C.; best friend and grandson of his heart, Ethan (Jill) Benoit of Moss Bluff, La.; siblings, Judith Peloquin, Jane Achter and Tracy Benoit; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Danny Benoit and Brian Benoit.
His memorial service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 10 a.m. until the start of the service. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in his name be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
