Dottie Lee (Smith) Trahan

Dottie Lee (Smith) Trahan, 81, of Sulphur, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Holly Hill House in Sulphur. She was born to her late parents, Don and Willie Smith on November 5, 1941 in Alexandria, Louisiana. Dottie was a Special Education teacher for 38 years in various school districts and finally ended up retiring with Calcasieu Parish Schools. Dottie had the honor of being the first Special Education teacher in Avoyelles Parish when she started out teaching. She was a girl’s coach with the Special Olympics in 1983, which she was very proud to be a part of. Dottie loved spending time with her family, whom she loved very much.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Johnny Ray “T-Boy” Trahan Sr.; two sons, Johnny Ray Trahan II (Melissa) and Don Dee Trahan (Kim), both of Carlyss, La.; along with five grandchildren, Johnny Ray Trahan III, Don Dee Trahan Jr., Samantha Trahan, Zachary Trahan, and Bridget Trahan.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents; along with her brother, Don Q. Smith, Jr.
A private graveside service and burial will be held at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Pineville, La.
The family would like to express their deepest thanks to Brighton Bridge Hospice for their loving compassionate care they showed Dottie. A special thanks to Melinda, Joyce, Veronica, Paula, Pastor June and Pastor Don.
