Anthony “Tony” Clavier

Anthony “Tony” Clavier, 85, passed away on Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, in a local hospital.
He was a native of Church Point, and had been a resident of Sulphur for 64 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church in Sulphur, American Legion Post #179, the Knights of Columbus, and was a former member of the Sulphur Jaycees. Tony worked as Operations Manager for BFI where he retired after 30 years of service. He enjoyed playing cards, telling stories, going to track meets, playing the harmonica, and watching baseball, especially the Houston Astros. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife and family. He will be remembered as someone who never met a stranger, had a great sense of humor, and loved giving big hugs and making people laugh.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Della Clavier of Sulphur; his children, Janet Dowden and husband Ricky of Carlyss, Dr. Myra Wise and husband Larry of Sulphur, Donald Clavier and wife Michelle of Carlyss, Ronald Clavier and wife Rebecca of Sulphur, Darrell Clavier and wife Stephanie of Sulphur, Vanessa Landry and husband Dennis of Sulphur, and Tara Barnes and husband Jason of Carlyss; 18 grandchildren, Shane Dowden and wife Bailey, Kelly Carroll, Justin Dowden, Blaine Mosley and wife Shauna, Allison Clavier and wife Madeleine Clavier, Claire Mosley and wife Kim, William Wise, Christian Wise, Amanda Clavier Babineaux and husband Blaine, Amie Daigle and husband Kane, Brittani Provost and husband Nick, Mehgan Clavier and husband Kevin Granger, Lane Clavier and wife Lauren, Ty Clavier, Elizabeth Lasuzzo and husband Michael, Mary Landry, Madison Barnes, and Lauren Barnes; and great-grandchildren, Slade Dowden, Kaitlyn Dawicki, Arwen Carroll, Rigel Provost, Adara Provost, Emmett Clavier and Ethan Clavier. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre Clavier and Marie Lavergne Clavier; his son, Anthony Clavier Jr.; his brothers, Herman Clavier and Freddie Clavier; his grandson, Aaron Anthony Clavier; and a grandson-in-law, Daniel Carroll.
His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. John Welch, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Pallbearers will be his seven grandsons. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Thursday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the funeral home.
