Aleata Ann Tharp

Aleata Ann Tharp, 74, of Vinton, La., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022 in her residence. She was born to her late parents, Howard and Doris Cunningham on Aug. 3, 1948.
She was a native of Alexandria, La. and had been a resident of Vinton for the last 60 years. Aleata was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton. She enjoyed decorating for the various Holidays, St. Joseph Catholic Church, special events, and weddings. She also loved to dance and travel to various places. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Phillip “Wayne” Tharp of Vinton, La.; her children, Allen Tharp (Christina) of San Diego, Calif., Dana Tharp Reed (David) of Welsh, La., and Jessie Tharp Moody (Aaron) of Vinton, La.; her sisters, Janet Keeling of Vinton, La., Lily Baker (Grant) of Vinton, La.; brothers, Billy Cunningham of Vinton, La., Pete Cunningham of Levelland, Texas, and Robert Cunningham of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Devin, Destin, Allison, Audrey, Carson, Matthew, and Alston; along with her great-grandchildren, Brentley, Drayson, and Blayde.
Aleata is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Paul Cunningham, Steve Cunningham, and Charles Cunningham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton, La. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022 at 10 a.m. The Rev. Carlos Garcia will officiate. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton, La. on Monday, Dec. 26, 2022, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 8 a.m. until the procession to the church. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery in Carlyss, La.
