AJ Goodfriend

AJ Goodfriend, 86, of Sulphur, passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, following a lengthy illness.
AJ was born in Hackberry, and was a member of the Sulphur High School Class of 1954. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. AJ was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and 4th Degree Knight with Knight of Columbus Council 3015. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. He worked as an Insulator for Local 112 for over 40 years, working in various local refineries. AJ loved traveling with his wife, deer hunting and fishing. He loved time with family; especially teaching his grandchildren how to hunt. AJ will be remembered as a strong-willed man and as a person with whom you always knew “where you stood.”
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Pat Goodfriend; three children, Randall James Goodfriend of Arizona, Julie Ann Goodfriend Dallas of Lake Charles, and Jay Paul Nicholas Goodfriend of Damon, Texas; five grandchildren, Brooks Dallas, Joshua Dallas, Rita Marie Dallas, Austin Goodfriend, and Rydge Goodfriend; brother, Joe Goodfriend of Choupique; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first child, Valerie Ann Goodfriend; parents, Paul and Mary Goodfriend; sister, Mary Cline; and brother, Paul Adam Goodfriend.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss. Visitation will be 5 – 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, with a recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m. at Johnson & Robison Funeral Home of Sulphur. Visitation will resume Monday 8 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
