Fairview holds off Parkway, will face LCA in Showdown in the Lake girls finals

Fairview surged ahead early in the fourth quarter and held on to beat Parkway 69-68 in the girls semifinals of the Hamilton Christian / Showdown in the Lake tournament Saturday morning at Hamilton Christian School.

Fairview will face Lafayette Christian in the finals at 6 p.m. It will be the third meeting this season between the schools. Fairview won 80-79 on Nov. 17 at the Hathaway tournament, while LCA won 58-53 at the St. Thomas More tournament on Nov. 21.

The final quarter was full of huge momentum swings. Fairview (14-3) got two quick buckets to open the fourth on a layup by Kaylee Guillory and Ella Reeves scored on a turnover for a 52-44 lead. Reeves led all scorers with 26 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter.

Parkway (5-3), led by 5-star LSU signee Mikaylah Williams, erased that lead in less than two minutes. Williams stepped back for a 3-pointer and a 55-52 lead and added bucket on a fastbreak for an 11-0 run, but Fairview went on a 13-4 run and took the lead for good on a putback by Bell Smith with 2:24 left in the game.

Fairview trailed Parkway 34-33 at halftime, but opened the third quarter with a 10-3 run using its speed, full court pressure and ability to quickly score in transition.

Williams finished with 19 points to lead Parkway while Chloe Larry added 15. Ty’lissa Henderson scored 13 points, and MaKenna Miles added 11.

Also in double figures for Fairview were Guillory (15) and Reese Jinks (12).

Lafayette Christian 64, Wossman 57

In the first girls semifinal of the day, Lafayette Christian highly recruited guard Jada Anderson scored 20 of her game-high 47 points to will the Knights to a 64-57 win over Wossman.

Wossman led 31-28 at halftime, but LCA tied it at 41-41 heading into the fourth quarter.

Richard went 11 of 12 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.

Anyra Wilson led Wossman with 19 points, Da’Naya Ross had 17 and Brittany Burton finished with 10.
